Jack - Another Favourite Resting Place

Hi,
Yes, Jack has another favourite resting place and it is quite cute.
He likes to squeeze himself between his crate and the wall...... giving himself a sense of security?

Here he is...... in such a confined space...?

This is how Jack looks like from the back view....!

Now I know why Jack also likes to go into Ruby's small crate....... small but cosy....!

Luckily, Ruby does not mind his using her crate though...!

Ruby's Favourite Resting Places

Hi,
Ruby does not like to go into her crate during the day unless it is raining with thunder and lighting.

So where does she hang out?

Have a look at the photos below :

Jack's Favourite Resting Places

Hi,

Other than the crates that Jack likes to go to for his nap or rest, he also likes to hide in his favourite spot at the base of the palm tree in the garden.

He would dig or clear away the pebble stones I laid on the soil .... maybe it is cooler and not so uncomfortble too for him.

Luckily, they do not fight over their resting places.

Crate Train Your Dogs

Hi,

I have Jack crate trained since he was a puppy and he love to nap in his crates and we also observed that he likes the small and cosy ones more than the big one I bought for him.

There are benefits in crate training your dog as it is their private space where they seek some peace and quiet when they need it. Also, a form of security for them. You can also use it to potty train your puppy as they will not soil it unless they cannot help it.

And finally, if you stay in a flat or apartment, you may need to crate you dog when you are out else it may mess up your home; eg chew up your furniture, urine or pooh on your carpet, etc...

Luckily, Ruby does not mind sharing her crates with Jack during the day. Ruby has one crate in the car porch and another one at the back of the house, in the dry kitchen. Ruby loves to go inside her crate at night or when it rains with thnder and lightning.

For more info on crate training your dog, please visit my other site dedicated to the subject matter at http://www.squidoo.com/crate-train-puppy where you will see photos and videos of them in their crates.

This is Jack's crate, a bit too big for him ..?

He still likes to go back to his old crate which was meant for Ruby. Jack used this crate since he was a puppy.

This is a new crate we bought for Ruby as the one above was cracking up due to wear and tear and I have to used some industrial tape to hold the cover in place. It is a bit smaller but Jack loves it anyway. Luckily, Ruby does not mind sharing it with Jack but she sleeps in it at night inside the house.

Adopt A Dog Perks

Hi,

Singapore has its Baby Bonus to encourage more children... and now we have some perks if you adopt a dog too.

So what do you get?

As part of World Animal Day, Action for Singapore Dogs (ASD) and Pet Lovers Centre have come up with the Pet Adoption Initiative to encourage Singaporeans to adopt a pet instead of buying one. They will be given a hamper of food vouchers, canned food, vitamins and toys, as well as advice on caring for their new
pet.

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) gets an average of 250 lost or unwanted dogs each month, and ASD takes in five to 15 dogs each month.

So if you are thinking of buying a pet puppy or dog for your kids or friends, please check out the dogs available for adoption instead.

You should also think about the responsibilities that the new owner have to take on and whether he is ready for it, too.

Ruby Barking Got Her Into Trouble Again

Hi,

My neighbour, on my left, has complained about Ruby's barking at night and that they could not sleep.

We used to crate her at night but then decided to let her out and see what happened a few months ago.

Ruby likes to bark at thunder and lightning, airplanes and even some noises that could be of high pitch I believe.

So I believe it has been raining these past few nights and Ruby must have been barking like crazy! When it rains with thunder and lightning, we crate her else she would be barking at the sky and running in the garden too, getting herself wet.

We could not hear a thing as we sleep with our air-conditioning switched on but my neighbour sleep with their windows opened at night.

We used to have similar problems with Jack when he was a puppy as he also barked at cats, frogs, etc..... We also crated him until he was much older and he has mellowed now.

Lucikily, Ruby does not mind being crated and she happily walks into the house and into the crate placed in our laundry area every night.

Here is a video of it :

However, I observed that she has very sensitive ears. One sunny afternoon, she was barking again and I could not see what was bothering her. Then about 15 minutes later, the sky turned dark and it rained.

I concluded that she must have heard some thunder and lightning faraway and knew it was going to rain....!

Anyway, we love you Ruby!

Spot The Terrier

Hi,

I came across photos of this terrier dog named Spot.

Spot was offered to us for adoption and we took him home to see if Jack can accepts him. This was in the year 2004.

Spot was a bit active for Jack but they got along well.

We have Spot for a night and our neighbour complained of his barking overnight so we decided to return Spot..... sigh....

I believed Spot was eventually adopted by another home in the neighbourhood but we have not seen it since then.

So here are sweet memories of Spot in the slideshow below ...... we miss you, Spot !

(Pls click on the 'X' on the upper right-hand corner if the slideshow is not showign any photos.)
