I got another bone treat again ..... as the family thinks that it helps to clean my teeth....

 

 

Removing Tartar from My Teeth

Once in a while, I get a cooked knuckle bone for a treat and they believe that it cleans my teeth as the biting or chewing action would scrape the tartar off my teeth..... I think it works too....!

Besides, this is my favourite treat too...... !

The soft white cartilage is so nice.....

 

Yummy...yummy.... finger licking good ...!



And they thought I do not know how to hold the bone with my 2 front paws.......

I must have been a good dog as I was given a chewy treat today.... woof... woof...!

I can hold it with my 2 front paws...

 

Or just chew it .... without the help of my paws......!

 



Ruby Learning To Chew Her Raw Hide Treat

Hi,

Ruby does not like to chew too much and would swallow her raw hide treat without giving it a good chew.

So I decided to teach her to chew properly by holding on to the treat and let her chew on it slowly bit by bit.

I have done it a few times and it seems to be working well now.

I also noticed that her constant chewing has helped to remove some tartar on her back teeth.

Brushing Ruby the Corgi Teeth with Bones

Hi,

Ruby also got her bone to clean her teeth.

She is more possessive than Jack my beagle when biting her bone. If you go too near her, she will growl at you but not Jack.

Jack was brought up having us touching him when he eats and we can also hand feed him too.

We are trying to change Ruby's habits but not at the risk of being bitten by her though. She is slightly better than before; ie she does not growl so much but we dare not touch her when she is having her meals or treat. She has fought with Jack if Jack comes too close to her when she is eating. Naughty girl!

Brushing Jack the Beagle Teeth with Bones

Hi,

It was time to give Jack a piece of bone to chew and in the process, it would remove his accummulated plague or tartar from his teeth.

We do it every quarter and this has proven to be the most effective way to brush or clean his teeth.

So you should try it too but no chicken or fish bones as they are too brittle and pointed like needles and may puncture its stomach etc when the dogs swallow them.

Bones Are Good For Removing Plague Or Tartar

Hi,

Here we have a few photos of Fluffy having an enjoyable time chewing the bones and the leftover meat on the bones.

We have roasted lamb for dinner on the previous night and kept the leftovers for Fluffy.

My brother also agrees that the bones are very effective for removing the plague or tartar on her teeth.

Brushing Ruby the Corgi Teeth - Dental Care to Maintain Plague Control

Hi,

I made this video to share with dog owners who may be interested in how to brush their dog teeth.

Ruby the Corgi enjoys it and co-operative during the whole process but Jack does not like it so I do not brush Jack teeth.

I take it as part of the grooming regime for Ruby.

Ruby's Teeth

These photos are taken after her chewing of freshed cooked bone and her teeth are so much cleaner now. There used to be obvious presence of tartar or plague on her teeth. I took a few photos of them but were misplaced else you willbe able to see the 'before' and 'after' effect better.

Prior to the chewing of the bone, I also tried an oral care product from PetzLife. I think it helped to soften up the tartar and I could even used my finger to scrap off some of the tartar then. So you may want to check this product out, which is available at Petlovers in Spore. I still use it to brush her teeth, more of a preventive measure but it is not cheap though.

I have also used dog tooth paste on Jack but did not find it effective and he did not like it. However, I still buy dog treats that are supposedly to help maintain the teeth and breathe too.

Jack Chewing His Xmas Bone - Video

Jack enjoying his Xmas treat.... I have also posted an earlier video on Ruby, my Corgi, chewing her bone too.

The bone was very effective in removing their tartar or plague from his teeth. So you may want to try it on your dog too but no chicken or fish bone!

Jason, my son, was playing his guitar in the background. He was not aware of my videoing the Jack.....

Dogs Having A Feast - Bones!

Hi,

Do you know that Dogs love bones? Well, definitely it is true for our Beagle and Corgi, Jack & Ruby.

Normally, our dogs do not mind us touching or patting them when they have their food or snack or treats but they are a bit possessive and growl a bit when they are having their bones though!


We find that the bones are very effective in removing tartar from their teeth so do try it but you cannot give them any bones; eg no chicken bones as it may pierce their intesttines or tummy.
