Jack Chewing His Xmas Bone - Video

Jack enjoying his Xmas treat.... I have also posted an earlier video on Ruby, my Corgi, chewing her bone too.

The bone was very effective in removing their tartar or plague from his teeth. So you may want to try it on your dog too but no chicken or fish bone!

Jason, my son, was playing his guitar in the background. He was not aware of my videoing the Jack.....

Enjoy the video!

Xmas Treats for Jack & Ruby

Both Jack & Ruby are crazy over fresh cooked bones so we gave them a trest on Xmas day. I prefer to cook them than give them raw though a friend of mine gives his dog raw bone.

Jack has stronger teeth and can easily chew and break the bones faster and into smaller pieces.

Ruby teeth is not so strong and took a longer time to chew her bone.

I watched them ate their bones and would remove any sharp or splinter bones and not let them swallow it. I only let Ruby ate the knuckles or the white part of the bone as she cannot chew through the other part.

BTW, the bones are also the most effective way to remove their tartar or plague on their teeth. Please do not give chicken ot fish bones to your dogs!

Dogs Having A Feast - Bones!

Hi,

Do you know that Dogs love bones? Well, definitely it is true for our Beagle and Corgi, Jack & Ruby.

Normally, our dogs do not mind us touching or patting them when they have their food or snack or treats but they are a bit possessive and growl a bit when they are having their bones though!

We find that the bones are very effective in removing tartar from their teeth so do try it but you cannot give them any bones; eg no chicken bones as it may pierce their intesttines or tummy.

Going to put up a short video of them enjoying their bones soon....... so return soon to view it.

Merry Xmas!

Jack's New Dog House

Hi,

Jack's current dog house or crate is breaking down due to wear and tear; ie the plastic cover is giving way. I got some tape to repair it, ie the blue tape in the photo.
We have been looking for a replacement but the ones available are just not big enough so we got a friend living in Australia to shop for one and fly it back with him when he was on a business trip here.

Here is the one we got from Geelong. Jack managed to get into it and sit up too but .................

When Jack lay down, his head stuck out....! The house is a bit too short....ha...ha....ha....

My dear wife suggested that we should give him a pillow......ha.....ha....ha.....

When I took him to the vet this morning, I was lucky to have found a second hand dog house that is much larger and can fit Jack, and possibly Ruby too.

This dog crate is from US and if you are interested to look at some of their products, pls check them out at :

Jack, the Beagle, & Ruby, the Corgi, Photos taken with a SLR Digital Camera

Jack peeping through the window,
seeking some attention or snack.

Ruby has been naughty lately, as she has been picking up fights with Jack. She would start jumping all over Jack and then somehow ended with Jack retaliating, resulting in a mini-fight and we have to go our and separate them.

Dog Collars & Leash

Hi,

When I got a personal trainer to teach us how to manage Jack, he suggested a Choke Collar as shown on the left. It was effective but please do not use it with too great a force as you may break the dog's neck especially if it is a small puppy dog.

Subsequently, after changing it to many types of collars ( eg nylon, different catches .... I did not want to choke my dog..... a bit cruel, isn't it especially if it is well behaved), I found an adjustable choke collar. The difference is that when not tugged, the collar is loose unlike the typical collars. Importantly, the size of the collar can be adjusted such that it will tighten exactly to the size of the neck so it is not so much of a choke until the dog cannot breath but the message is conveyed to him. I hope you got what I am trying to say here.

Here is a photo of my Ruby, the Corgi, wearing an adjustable choke collar.

There are also all sort of leash but I have used this flexible or auto-release and recall leash which give both Jack/Ruby and I freedom to move about. This type of leash is easier found in the pet shop.

The adjustable choke collar is not readily available in the pet shops.
But I found it in an online shop so if interested, click on the BUY button below.

Our Dogs Nanny

Jean, our Philipino housekeeper, was initially sceptical about helping us care for the dogs.
She loves our dogs now and has been caring for them since.
Ruby the Corgi, giving her paw to Jean to shake hands upon command.
Surprisingly, Jack the Beagle, is not so socialble though he is a very friendly dog. But he will almost do anything for snacks.

Dogs waiting for Snacks

The dogs waiting by the door when they hear us in the living room.

Hoping to get some snacks from us...... especially Jack the Beagle!

Dogs having a Nap

Our dogs having an afternoon nap together, aren't they cute?

Dogs - Your Best Friend

Dogs are really your best friends.....
The dogs will rush to you when you come home .....
Jason just back from school and the dogs are all over him, photo on the right.
The dogs know when you are angry with them but they will still come to you when you call them.
Dogs hold no grudges against you but give you undying love.

Basketball with My Dogs

Jason playing basketball with Jack but he was not interested.

Ruby has to be caged else she would go 'crazy' chasing the basketball.

Of our 2 dogs, only Ruby is interested to chase the ball provided it is small enough for her to bite it, like a tennis ball.

Playing with my Dogs

Jason, my son, trying to carry Ruby around and Jack was following behind him.
The dogs get very jealous when we carry either one of them and the other is left on the ground.

My Beagle Dog Hobby

Besides eating, Jack enjoys watching the world goes by from the gate.
Beagle dog is known for its bottomless pit when come to food.
Jack needs to be walked more often to keep in shape, maybe the owners too....... ha...ha....ha.....
This breed of dog is also known for its friendliness with children though.

My 2 Dogs - Jack & Ruby together

Ruby & Jack , as usual, waiting at the door for some snacks ........................
These 2 dogs are always asking for snacks especially Jack who has a bottomless pit appetite!

My Corgi Dog - Ruby's Sleeping Habit

Hello,

Ruby has to be put in her cage at night to give her some sense of security.

She barks at planes, heavy vechiles like the rubbush trucks, thunder and lightning and runs around in the rain.

So we have no choice but to put her in her cage and bring her into the house at night. She loves it too.

Look at how she sleeps on her back......so cute........

She is a funny dog...ha..ha..ha...

My Beagle Dog - Jack's Birthday Treat

Hi,

We celebrated Jack's birthday with a big bone, this Arpil.

Jack, is a male dog, has strong teeth and enjoys such treats.

Jack does not mind your presence when he has his meals or snacks but be warned not to go near him when he is biting on his bone though......

My Dogs & I

Hi,

Here I am with my 2 dogs, Jack & Ruby.

This photo was taken with my mobile phone, not too bad for a 1.3MP camera.

I enjoy taking photos of our dogs and I have lots of them. It is a challenge getting the dogs to pose for you as they may not be very co-operative at times so I would take many shots and then select the few shots that I like for printing or putting them on my PC or notebook as backgrounds, or post them in my blogs, etc....

My dogs are lovely, aren't they?

My Other Dog - Ruby the Corgi

Ruby was given to us when she was a year old only dog, about 2 years ago.

Her previous owner was moving to an apartment and her husband was also not too keen to have a dog in a smaller home.

Since we love dogs so much ( she noticed that we treat Jack , our Beagle dog, very well and also took in all sort of lost dogs in our neighbourhood until the owners came to claim them back ), she offered Ruby to us.

So we ended up with 2 dogs now.

BTW, this photo of Ruby was published in a photography magazine about a year ago.

We love you too, Ruby ....................

My First Dog - Jack the Beagle

My 4 years old son, Jason, wanted a dog in 1998.

We did some research on the type of dogs and found that Beagle is good with children though he wanted a Jack Russell instead, as he played with such a dog when we visited my sister's home in Melbourne.

Jason has gown up with Jack all these years, having the dog for company as Jas is our only child.

Jason is 14 and Jack is 10 years old now. In dog years, Jack should be 70 years old......!!!
We love you, Jack..................
